Meetu Kohli, BDS, DMD
Dr. Meetu Ralli Kohli is a Clinical Associate Professor. She is the Program Director of the Postgraduate Endodontic Education.
She also serves as Director for Continuing Education and International Visiting Scholar Program and the Master’s in Advanced Dentistry Studies Program at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Dean’s advisory council. Dr. Kohli earned her B.D.S. degree from India, then pursued her D.M.D. degree and Endodontics training at PENN and won several awards, including the esteemed Louis I Grossman award. She is a reviewer for the Journal of Endodontics, the International Endodontic Journal, and other endodontic journals. Dr. Kohli has published in national and international peer-reviewed journals and contributed to microsurgical retreatment books. Her publications have been recognized as the best clinical research paper and as an honorary mention by JOE multiple times. She has served on the AAE’s Constitution and Bylaws Committee and the Research and Scientific Affairs Committee. She currently serves as the President of the American Board of Endodontics and is a diplomate. Dr. Kohli maintains multiple private practices in Pennsylvania.
Aleksandra Dwornicka, DDS
Dr. Dwornicka earned her D.D.S. degree from the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice,
Poland, in 2016. From 2017 to 2021, she practiced general dentistry and endodontics in a private clinic in Ruda Śląska, Poland.
In 2021, she shifted her focus to academic research, and in 2023, she obtained an M.S. degree in Cellular Biology from the University Paris Cité in France, concentrating her research on root resorptions.
From 2023 to 2025, Dr. Dwornicka completed her specialty training in Endodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She is currently a full-time faculty member in the Department of Endodontics at the University.
Frank C. Setzer, DMD, MS, PhD
Frank C Setzer received his dental and doctoral degree from the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany in 1995 and 1998;
and his Endodontic specialty certificate, MS in Oral Biology and DMD from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, USA in 2006, 2008, and 2010, respectively. He is an Associate Professor of Endodontics at the University of Pennsylvania, serving as Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs at Penn Dental Medicine, previously holding positions as Endodontic Clinic and Predoctoral Program Director. His research interests are the clinical detection, prognosis and assessment of periradicular pathology, in particular apical periodontitis, utilizing CBCT imaging and Artificial Intelligence, as well as endodontic microsurgery. Dr. Setzer is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics ABE, a member of the American Association of Endodontists AAE, and a dental faculty member of OKU. He is Associate Editor for Journal of Endodontics and the European Endodontic Journal and serves on several other editorial review boards.
Samuel I. Kratchman, DMD
Dr. Sam Kratchman received a B.S. in Biology and D.M.D. at Tufts University in Boston, and his certificate in endodontics from the University of Pennsylvania,
where he is an Associate Professor of Endodontics and Assistant Director of Graduate Endodontics, in charge of microsurgery. Dr. Kratchman co-authored the textbook of Endodontic Microsurgery with Dr. Kim published in 2017 and developed a patented instrument called the S Kondenser for obturation of root canals. Both Main Line Today and Doctor of Dentistry magazines honored Dr. Kratchman as the cover story for their “Best of “issues.
Dr. Kratchman lectures nationally and internationally as well as maintaining four private practices; in Exton, West Chester, Paoli, and Bryn Mawr Pennsylvania.
Bekir Karabucak, DMD, MS
Dr. Karabucak is a Professor of Endodontics-Clinician Educator and Chair of the Department of Endodontics.
After earning his dental degree from Istanbul University School of Dental Medicine in 1993, Dr. Karabucak completed his endodontic postgraduate training at the Department of Endodontics at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also received his Master of Science in Oral Biology in 1998. He later earned his DMD degree from Penn Dental Medicine in 2002.
Dr. Karabucak lectures at national and international conferences, has published in peer-reviewed journals. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. Dr. Karabucak has been the attending endodontist at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Mark S. Wolff, DDS, PhD
Dr. Mark S. Wolff is the Morton Amsterdam Dean of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and a Professor in the Department of Preventative and Restorative Dentistry.
Formerly he was a Professor and Chair of the Department of Cariology and Comprehensive Care and Associate Dean for Pre-doctoral Clinical Education and Associate Dean for Development and Alumni Relations at the New York University College of Dentistry. He has designed, developed, and implemented an extensive curriculum in caries risk assessment and has designed dental information systems to assist dental schools in monitoring the risk of the entire dental patient population. Dr. Wolff has completed numerous national and international research and oral health assessment programs. Dr. Wolff started his dental career as a private practitioner, creating a family practice that focused on the medically compromised and disabled patients of all ages. He has been a lifelong advocate and educator for individuals with physical, intellectual and developmental disabilities through the lifespan.
Dr. Wolff received his DDS degree and PhD in Oral Biology and Pathology from Stony Brook University. He has served as the principal or co-principal investigator on multiple bench top and clinical research projects investigating dental caries, novel remineralizing agents, dental erosion, periodontal disease, dental materials and dentinal hypersensitivity. He has co-authored over 100 scientific papers, text chapters and edited multiple textbooks. Dr. Wolff lectures world-wide and is a frequent consultant to industry. He has been the principal or co-principal investigator on more than $9.0 million in industrial and National Institute of Health funded research. Prior to joining the NYU College of Dentistry in 2005, he served as Associate Dean at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine, where he helped develop and implement the first completely computerized dental record. Under his leadership, Penn Dental Medicine implemented extensive clinical programs of caries and health risk assessments, minimal intervention dentistry, tobacco cessation, evidence based dental education, community-based dentistry and dental care for all patients through the life-cycle. He frequently serves as a media source for information on consumer issues and hosted an annual radio series on dental issues on satellite radio.
Yongkun Kim DDS, PhD
“Dr Kim received his DDS from the University of São Paulo in Brazil and DMD from the University of Pennsylvania.
He received his postdoctoral training in Periodontics and Periodontal Prosthesis from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Kim is currently Clinical Professor of Periodontics and Clinical Professor of Prosthodontics at the University of Pennsylvania. The University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine has been his second home since 1991.
He has a private practice in Philadelphia.“
Syngcuk Kim, DDS, PhD
Syngcuk Kim is an internationally recognized endodontist, educator, and researcher.
He received his BA, DDS, MPh, and PhD from Columbia University and later received honorary MD degrees from University of Graz and University of Vienna (1999), as well as from University of Oradea, Romania (2015).
From 1980 to 1992, he served at Columbia University as Director of the Laboratory of Dentin/Pulp Biology and Chairman of the Department of Endodontics. In 1992, he joined the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where he served as Chairman and Louis I. Grossman Professor of Endodontics until 2018. He also held leadership roles as Associate Dean for Global Affairs (2009–2025) and Associate Dean for Advanced Education, and founded the Microscope Training Center at the university.
Dr. Kim has supervised 26 master’s and 6 PhD graduates and has authored more than 215 scientific publications. He is the lead author of the textbooks Color Atlas of Microsurgery in Endodontics (1997) and Endodontic Microsurgery (2008), and served as Chief Editor of Dental Clinics of North America.
An active international lecturer, he has presented at universities and professional meetings in 26 countries and founded the Penn Endodontic Global Symposium. Alongside his academic career, he has maintained a private endodontic practice since 1976, including practice at Rockefeller Center in New York City.
